BIOGRAPHY
Hayden Lee Woods, born June 28, 1992, is a Bozeman, Montana native who graduated from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming in 2012. He attended Montana State University-Bozeman from 2012 to 2014 before stepping down to pursue management positions in restaurants in Belgrade. Even while working, he continued music as a hobby and began composing and arranging on the side. Though he found success in the restaurant industry, the pursuit of performing music came back to the forefront, resulting in his return to the One O’clock Jazz band in the fall of 2016. Early 2017, the decision to return to school was made and the plan was set in order to graduate in the spring 2018 semester.
His past work includes involvement with the jazz bands of Northwest College, which twice traveled to the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Festival in Greeley, Colorado. He attained an Associate of Arts from NWC in May of 2012. In the 2012-2014 run at Montana State University, his performance experience includes sitting in as a sub for the Bridger Mountain Big Band and a semester in the MSU Symphony Orchestra. Being in the One O’clock Jazz band and the low brass ensemble granted the opportunity to go on a two week tour of Europe, primarily in Germany with two stops in Prague (Czech Republic) and Vienna, Austria.
Events of the return to Montana State include performing as a trombonist of the Bridger Brass Quintet, a group of students from MSU-Bozeman that performs in outreach and in competitions. Their latest accomplishments included a first place title at the Music Teachers National Association State competition, which garnered them a spot in the national competition in Orlando, Florida (which took place in March 2018). His return to the One O’clock Jazz band included a return to Greeley for the UNC Jazz festival in April 19-21, 2018. He graduated on May 5, 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music.
